Lord Digby Jones Calls For a University Rethink

Notgoingtouni.co.uk are backing Lord Digby Jones in his call for a rethink to university focus. Lord Jones, the ex-Director General of the CBI, believes that people need to get out of the mindset that you can only succeed by going to university which is our core message at notgoingtouni.

With undergraduate applications to start university this September up by 12%, UCAS predicting 200,000 young people will be unable to attend university and an average of 70 graduates applying for each graduate level job, it has never been more important for people to look into the alternatives and realise that a successful career can be achieved without attending a full time campus based university degree course. Lord Jones believes that we need more young people working towards a vocational training course or work based learning option, rather than believing that they are a failure if they do not follow the tradition route of going to university Read More »

Not Going To Uni release Distance Learning Guide

University is not the right option for everyone and the majority of school and college leavers are not properly informed about the alternative options to the traditional university route. With UCAS predicting over 200,000 students not getting a place at university this September and these numbers looking set to continue to rise plus the average student debt already reaching £20,000 taking an average of 11 years to pay off its time to look at the alternatives.

Notgoingtouni.co.uk have created an online ‘Distance Learning Guide’ which aims to show young people that there are alternative routes to obtaining a degree and other valuable qualifications which can be studied at their own pace and around their lifestyle. Distance learning is a much cheaper way to achieve a degree than full time campus based study and in some cases you can even graduate debt free. Read More »

Graduate market tougher than ever

With the graduate market tougher than ever, surely it is now time for young people to be told about the many different ways that they can achieve their career goals?

The intensity of the graduate job market has taken a dramatic turn today, with research showing that three quarters of employers require a 2.1 degree grade as a minimum requirement for a graduate job. This startling revelation shows that graduates achieving below a 2.1 qualification will not even be considered for the position by a large number of employers.
