Bridgwater & the Surrounding Area

The busy market town of Bridgwater has much to offer the prospective student, nestling in the heart of Somerset’s vastly contrasting but beautiful countryside. With the Quantock Hills and the surrounding Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the one side, and miles of rugged coastline to the other, there are numerous attractions nearby, including the historic cities of Bath and Wells, the mystical town of Glastonbury and numerous charming, country villages. Despite its rural location, major cities such as London, Birmingham, Oxford and Cardiff are within easy commuting distance. The College itself is situated just a mile from the main railway station and three miles from the M5, placing it at the very heart of the UK’s transport system; the shops, theatres and restaurants of Taunton and Bristol are also only a short distance away.

You’ll find a wide variety of activities and sport in Bridgwater, including rugby, football, hockey, tennis and cycling clubs as well as traditional skittle teams based in many local pubs. There is a wide choice of places to eat out, both in the town and within the surrounding area, and of course Bridgwater is also home to the famous Guy Fawkes Carnival, the largest illuminated carnival in the world. It attracts more than 130,000 visitors annually and, in recognition of the importance of this event to the local community, the College has recently opened an innovative Carnival Academy, where students can try their hand at everything from welding to costume design and much, much more.

We believe that Bridgwater offers a familiar, safe and secure environment in which to live and study, and we know from students’ feedback that they have a wonderful time while they’re with us!
