Hi I’m Spencer, Tom’s partner in notgoingtouni.co.uk. Yepp I’m the old one, a 40 something and you guessed it no hair, trying to loose the belly and thinking, could I get away with buying a Harley?…. “what a cliche…”.
They asked me to write a biog so I thought I would keep it short and just do a quick paragraph or two of interesting things that have happened on my journey which has got me to this place today.
I left secondary school (mixed comprehensive) with 6 “O” levels all grade C, then decided to have a break before setting the business world alight! So I went to live in Israel and Egypt for 6 months working on the farms picking fruit, sun bathing and drinking. I returned as a bronzed God to the UK with no money and no clothes (not sure what happened to them!).
I went into a recruitment agency to find a job and they offered me one with them! A few years later I got headhunted to work for an exhibition organiser selling stands at shows; great fun! 2 years later I was running major events for the likes of Adidas, Elton John, Pink Floyd, Planet Hollywood, Ben Elton, & Queen.
I decided to jump back into recruitment as the IT sector took off and had 6 fantastic years working in London, making great money, out every night; a truly wild and excessive time…I should write a book! I then decided to set up my own recruitment business in the education sector.
5 years later I had 12 staff, a turnover of approx £3m and sold out to one of the world’s largest recruitment groups. Thought I had enough of work, so I took a year off with the lovely wife and baby (yepp, I’m an old dad too). I soon got bored so I began looking around for a new project to believe in. I came across Tom, loved Tom and his site (more the site though!),bought in and decided to change the world.. and prove that YOU DON’T HAVE TO GO TO UNI TO BE SUCCESSFUL!

Things I don’t like…
- Arsenal
- racists
- people who can’t think for themselves
- speed cameras
- tax of any description
- loosing at FIFA 09 to an 8 year old…every time!
